BepsArtStudio_1.jpg Reflections of Gold and blue
Ceramic, enamel, fused glass inserts, gold-like leaf.
Dimensions 35x24x6 cm., weight 1,370 kg.

This sculpture-tray is a piece that celebrates the harmony between natural elements and artistic abstraction.

Entirely handcrafted from clay, its surface is enriched with fused glass, creating a vibrant chromatic contrast between deep blue and bright red, framed by the brilliance of imitation gold leaf. The irregular texture of the ceramic edges evokes the imperfection of nature, making it a truly unique piece. This work is inspired by the philosophy of wabi-sabi, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection and transience. The blue reflects the depths of the ocean, symbolizing introspection, while the red represents a spark of energy and vitality, almost symbolizing the force of life emerging from silence.
I hope this sculpture evokes a sense of balance between contemplation and vitality. The chromatic and material contrasts invite the viewer to reflect on the value of uniqueness and imperfection, while the gold’s luminosity suggests a sense of preciousness in everyday life.
I chose clay for its ability to transform through fire, symbolizing resilience, and fused glass for its transparency and depth, giving the piece a multidimensional character. The gold leaf, in turn, adds a luminous quality that elevates the tray into a decorative sculpture suitable for display or practical use.
